Representing Biocentury, Dr John Liu, VP for International Business was invited to participate the Opening Ceremony of FGN's China Headquarter and R&D Center in Shanghai. FGN's CEO, Dr Stanley Hirsch and FGM China GM Mr Hui Zhang jointly chaired the ceremony with invited guests of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangxi Academy of Sciences, Beijing Forestry University, South China Technology University, and Mr GM for China, Mr Guohua Yang of the Brazilian company Suzano.
Biocentury has entered into a licensing agreement with FuturaGene to develop cotton plants with new biotech traits. Under the agreement FuturaGene will provide BioCentury with cell wall modification and salt tolerance genes. Biocentury intends to develop cotton plants with improved and increased yield, fibre quality and salt tolerance characteristics. FuturaGene and BioCentury will share revenues generated by sales of the newly developed cotton seeds.
